Yvonne Parker...

I read it last night, you're a very good writer and it was very insightful of the War and your service there. So sad what you all had to go through and see. I ended up with a 100 on my powerpoint of Vietnam but got an 80 on my presentation because I didn't keep my full attention on my audience. I get nervous speaking in front of a crowd, so I am just happy I didn't pass out!! lol. My only advice (like you care what I think, lol) is to write more! Elaborate, tell all the details...your life has been very interesting and full of ups and downs, make us feel them all! I love to read and get transported in time to another life and adventure and get completely engrossed in the authors everyday life and experiences. Best of luck to you my friend and I'll be getting your other books as well.

This is the best book I have read in a long time, I couldnt put it down, until I had read the entire book. Knowing Jim personally I knew this book would be a very good read, as he is a character to know. It was very interesting to get to know the Jim from his service days and I found myself walking away with a much bigger understanding of who he is and what he did for our country as a young man. The pictures from that era are astounding and i found them to be at times light hearted and funny and on others was brought to tears from the pitures he had taken himself while over there, I gotta say it was well worth the read, my only complaint is I wanted to read and know even more, So Jim write us more because I will definetly be buying all your books from here on out!!

Okay so I finally read it AND couldn't put it down!!! Told ya I am not a big reader but it kept me interested and was glad to see some of your humor in there. So sorry that you all had to experience the things you experienced but at the same time I am thankful to you all for your service to our country! Privileged and proud to say that I know the man behind the book! I am sure these experiences aided in making you the wonderful person you are today. I see how much you appreciate and enjoy life everytime I am around you. Thank you so much for the insight and I look forward to your next book!

An insightful firsthand account of a brave soldier who was on the front lines. We all owe you a world of gratitude. I consider it an honor and privilege to say I know you personally and can call you one of my best friends. Shelly Matthews (preface writer)

This is a very honest and painful story. It was almost difficult to read as I thought about my loved ones who experienced this war, as well as the unwelcome reception they received upon returning home. It's no surprise that so many soldier don't want to speak of this time. Thanks to Jim Akers not only for serving this country, but also for sharing his story with us. Let us never forget the sacrifices made for us.

Interesting story, grew up near Ft.Bragg and Jim's story is factual. The training is very trying for the young recruits and they are trained to be tough and deadly. The picture of the Vietnam war and the feelings back home were on target. Its about time we welcomed the Vietnam Vets back home...

I have read the book in which My Dad wrote! I never really knew or had put as much thought into what had went on then in Vietnam until I started reading. I too, as well as more readers just could not put it down until finished. My eyes filled with tears several times & I would have to pause for seconds, sometimes a minute or two. I never knew my Daddy had went through so much! I couldn't imagine seeing the bodies he has seen, exspecially the "little boy". I am so very PROUD of my Dad for sharing this experience with me & all others. You really have done a great job Daddy!!! We ALL are proud of you and very Thankful for a Job well done by you and all others there, then & now!
