Jim Akers is a decorated combat Vietnam Veteran, awarded two Bronze Star medals , four Air medals , plus numerous other medals and citations while serving in the 9th Infantry Division in the Vietnam war from 1968 through 1969, also a retired professional photographer from Mt. Airy, North Carolina, also known as (Mayberry) Andy Griffith's hometown as well.. Jim wrote his first book, One Soldiers Story in 2012 basically to leave a record or legacy for his children and grandchildren a small part of his history and show the horrible un-glamorous aspects of war. Later that same year, he wrote a more in depth version called Soldiers Story with additional stories and more pictures he made while in Vietnam. By then the writing bug had bitten and he wrote Deceitful Attraction, a bitter sweet but humorous book about his two marriages to the same woman during his eventful life.
